KUAU COVE
About a mile up the coast from Paia, and just a short walk from the vacation rental, is this little neighborhood beach. There are some large tidepools
big enough to swim and snorkel in when the tide is up. You can see them windsurfing or kitesurfing
upwind at Ho'okipa Beach from here. Not many people come to this secluded spot, so it's
a good place to just relax and soak up the sun. Kids love to play in the water here
because it's usually safe from big wave action. Mama's Fish House Restaurant overlooks
the beach. It's a great place to have lunch or dinner.
It's just a short drive to
PAIA TOWN,a historic sugar town.
This shot shows the western side of the beach, which is the safest place to launch
and return with your windsurfing rig.
Be sure to wear some reef shoes as there are vana, small sea urchins, in
the reef.
By the way, one of the
beachfront homes is for sale.
