Maui's Historic Cowboy Town

This little country town is on the slopes of Maui's Haleakala mountain. Makawao Town has a cowboy, or "PANIOLO" flavor, being the hub of a local farming and ranching community . There are numerous restaurants and eateries, including Komoda Store and Bakery, Makawao Steak House, and Polli's Mexican Restaurant. Old stores have been turned into cute boutiques that sell gifts and clothing and art, among other things. Makawao also has a post office, gas stations, a library, and Rodeo Grounds which are the site of the annual 4th of July Rodeo. It's a busy little town with a lot going on all year round. Stop in and do some shopping, have a meal, take a scenic drive up to Olinda or Kula.
Once you've been to Makawao you just might want to own a piece of the rock!
